Mert & Marcus 1994 x Dsquared2 collection is the result of two photographers and two fashion designers that joined forces to create a limited edition of collectible pieces inspired by the key moments that shaped Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott and Dean & Dan Caten’s lives in the ‘90s.
The Mert & Marcus 1994 x Dsquared2 collection is composed of overalls, bombers, tank tops, hoodies, oversized t-shirts, asymmetric shift dresses and boxy tailoring in decisive volumes and bright graphic hues, drenched with a sense of underground-Berlin.
The bold fabrications – laminated, paper and rubberized fabrics – are what together create the understated contemporary touch. Methodically positioned throughout the collection, with a do-it-yourself post-punk spirit, are images of Kate Moss and other iconic photos from Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott’s archive.
As a result, art migrates from the pages of a monographic book or the walls of a gallery to items that are meant to be worn. Clothing, on its turn, gets as valuable as art.
